300 Pension Recipients Have Lived Past 100

Among pension recipients in Kazakhstan, there are 300 citizens aged 100 or older. The oldest Kazakhstani woman lives in the Ulytau region and has already celebrated her 116th birthday.

Notably, Almaty, the country’s largest city, is home to the most centenarians: 41 people aged 100 and over.

The Turkistan region ranks second, with 32 residents aged 100 and over.

The Almaty region is in third place, with 25 people aged 100 and over.

The three oldest Kazakhstanis live in the Ulytau region (116 years old), the Pavlodar region (114 years old) and the Kostanay region (111 years old).

Every year on 1 October, Kazakhstan, together with the rest of the world, marks the International Day of Older Persons. The day was proclaimed by the 45th session of the United Nations General Assembly on 14 December 1990.

Its main purpose is to show respect for older people and recognise their contribution to the state and society, as well as to draw attention to their problems and needs, the need to improve their quality of life and to show care for them.
